International Society of Political Psychology Online Privacy Policy

The International Society of Political Psychology (ISPP) is committed to protecting your online privacy, and providing a safe online experience for all of its users. This Privacy Policy applies to information collected online when visiting our website, ISPP.org, and governs online data collection and usage via ISPP’s official member portal and event web sites. Please review the information below and contact us if you have any questions.

Your Information

Visitors can visit our web site without registering or providing personal information, but we do collect personal information in order to make certain features and options available. We also collect personal information when it is voluntarily provided, for instance, when registering for membership, e-mail updates, requesting materials or services, or making a donation. To process membership and other requests we may ask for first and last name, mailing address, phone number, credit card information, and an e-mail address. In addition, to process online donations, first and last name, mailing address, phone number, and credit card or bank information will be requested.

We use the personal information we collect to fulfill your requests. For instance, if you wish to become a member of ISPP, that comes with certain member benefits. In order to notify you of and fulfill some of these benefits, ISPP will send you communications via e-mail. By registering on our membership/conference registration site, you give ISPP express permission to send you these communications by email. You can opt-out of e-mails from ISPP at any time (see below for more detail). We also use collected information to evaluate our service, respond to any problems that may arise, and to gauge user trends to determine what features are of most interest to our visitors.

We do not share your personal information with third parties, other than with our agents who provide certain member benefits, technical support for our site, or help process donations and transactions. If you do not want your previously supplied information to be further shared in this manner, you can manage your own information within our online database, and you can also contact us to request removal of your information (subject to legal restrictions). To be removed from an ISPP mailing list, please click the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of e-mails from ISPP, which request will remain in effect unless you subsequently request further services or make a donation. However, we do reserve the right to use or disclose any information without notice or consent as needed to satisfy any law, regulation or legal request; to conduct investigations of consumer complaints or possible breaches of law; to protect the integrity of our site and our property; to protect the safety of our visitors or others; to fulfill your requests; or to cooperate in any legal investigation.

We may, at times, produce reports containing aggregate information about our users such as demographic and online usage information. This allows us to provide information and features that are most relevant to our users. We do not include personally identifiable information in these reports.

Our Security Features

Our software providers are PCI Level 1 compliant and protect credit card data during transmission. ISPP limits access to personal information to those employees with a specific need to retrieve this information. We may give other companies access to our information database, but only if necessary to allow them to provide technical or fulfillment services to us. We may also give other companies access to the information necessary to process your donation or other online member services. Our technical and fulfillment agents must agree to use personal information only to process or fulfill your requests or to service our site.

Updating Your Preferences

At any time you can change, correct, modify or delete any personal information you may have provided to us. Users can also unsubscribe from any newsletters or opt out of various promotional e-mailings at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of an e-mail from ISPP.

You also have the right to have your data anonymized (“pseudonymisation”) or removed from ISPP’s system (i.e., the “right to be forgotten”), subject to legal restrictions. Please contact the ISPP Central Office to have your data adjusted in these manners.
