Review Proposed Changes to the ISPP Constitution
ISPP has undergone a number of changes over the past several years and these changes have necessitated alterations to our ISPP Constitution that were made along the way.

We have reached a point where the Governing Council determined that the ISPP Constitution needed significant rewriting and restructuring, to reflect the current governance of ISPP, and to allow more readily for future adjustments as we continue to build and internationalize.

We have posted several documents, including an explanatory statement about the proposed changes on https://www.ispp.org/about/constitution for your review and consideration.

Observing trials against academics in Turkey

Earlier this month three international observers went to Istanbul on behalf of ISPP to speak with our colleagues in Turkey and attend two trials against academics who signed the Peace petition in 2016 and were charged with spreading terrorist propaganda. A report about their observations and experiences can be found here.

Colleagues in Turkey as well as their case lawyers have stressed the impact of international observers on the court process. Observers also serve in boosting morale. For ISPP sending observers to Turkey is an opportunity to get first-hand information about the current situation and to jointly plan support actions.  Colleagues in Turkey have therefore asked us to send observers for other trials of ISPP members. The trials have up to now been held in IstanbulIf you are interested in joining the pool of observers get in touch with us via info@ispp.org.

Upcoming trial dates:
March 1, 2019
March 7, 2019
March 13, 2019
April 4, 2019
See our Scholars under Threat webpage for an overview of our initiatives and information on how YOU can help.

New book publications

The book The Psychology of Globalization: Identity, Ideology, and Action, authored by Gerhard Reese, Amir Rosenmann, and James E. Cameron has just been published. In this book relevant to many aspects of political psychology, the authors have compiled and summarized how globalization affects our social identities, our consumer choices and our responses to global challenges such as climate change and migration. They devote a lot of space to social identity and collective action approaches vis-á-vis these global challenges, together with relevant views on political ideologies and the role of internet communication.
