* A Junior Scholar is defined as a
graduate student or person within 8 years of degree.
Junior Scholars Events at Annual Meetings
Every year at the
ISPP Annual Meeting, the junior scholars
committee hosts a social hour
just for junior scholars. We try to hold the social hour at the
start of the meeting, usually immediately before the opening
reception. This way, we can reunite with old friends or meet new
ones early in the conference, thus helping to create the
community that makes ISPP such a special organization. If you
attend the annual meeting, please come and join your fellow
junior scholars at the JUNIOR SCHOLARS SOCIAL HOUR (July
7, 2010, 5:30-6:30). The Junior
Scholars Committee also organizes various workshops and
roundtable sessions facilitating professional and academic
development for junior scholars. In 2010, the CAREER
DEVELOPMENT ROUNDTABLE, "Braving the Job
Application Process"
will be held July 9, 3:30-5:00, and the PUBLISHING
ROUNDTABLE, "Helping Junior
Scholars Tackle the Publish or Perish Mantra" will take place July 10,
9:00-10:30.
Through the
JSC Mentorship Program, junior scholars have an
opportunity to meet face-to-face with a senior faculty member
who shares research interests at the annual meeting's
MENTORING TEA (July 9, 2010, 5:30-6:30).
Remember to sign up to participate
(juniors and mentors) by completing an application for the program
at
http://ispp.org/jsc/jscweb02.html
by June 1. Also, the
Roberta Sigel Junior Scholar Paper Award
and
Best Dissertation Award are presented during the AWARDS CEREMONY at the
annual meeting (July 9, 2010, 7:00-9:00) .
