ISPP Nominees 2007

Candidate for Governing Council

Christopher Cohrs

Christopher Cohrs obtained a doctoral degree in psychology from the University of Bielefeld in early 2004. Since then he has worked in the field of social psychology. Currently he is a post-doctoral fellow in the International Graduate College "Conflict and Cooperation between Social Groups" at Friedrich Schiller University Jena. His work has spanned topics such as authoritarianism, social dominance, prejudice and intergroup conflict, attitudes toward military and peaceful conflict resolution, attitudes toward human rights, patriotism, and responses to the terrorist threat.

He first became involved with ISPP at the Scientific Meeting in Berlin 2002. His goal for ISPP would be to contribute to the mutual stimulation of social psychology and political psychology, with the aim of increasing their significance for the understanding and alleviation of social problems. He believes both disciplines have much to offer and would benefit a lot from a greater integration of their somewhat complementary strengths.
